Self Discipline
“Laziness is nothing more than the habit of resting before you get tired.”
~ Jules Renard
Self-discipline is without a doubt a mandatory part of succeeding as an artist. If you don’t possess self-discipline, you won’t achieve your creative goals. It’s that simple.
What is self-discipline?
Self-discipline involves doing what you sometimes don’t want to do, for the sake of the long-term vision.
When you have blocked out time in your schedule to create art, commit to making art. If you feel like watching TV or lounging about, bypass that inclination and sit down to make art. If your friends call and want you to go out during a time you’ve blocked for art, politely decline and schedule another time to go. Art requires sacrifice and a sincere investment of energy.
Be willing to make sacrifices. Be willing to subdue your fears. Be willing to take on the challenge.
If you really want something, you must go after it yourself & dedicate yourself fully to it. No one is going to give it to you.
